Quadrant Design were commissioned by the Watches of Switzerland group to design their new 75,000 sqft HQ in Carlton Park. They wanted the office to create a environment linking with their retail stores, connecting teams with their brands and be a space the team could be proud of.
We created a dynamic flexible office design, which encourages collaborative work in shared spaces. We delegated a large proportion of the design budget to biophylia for this project. The key aspects of the concept being connecting the team with the nature that surrounds the building, bringing the outdoors.
The design features frequent breakout spaces for the team to break away from their desks and connect with others without venturing far or to specific canteen spaces. Every department within the building (there was 16 in total) has their own collaborative spaces. Each has access to digital screens, comfortable furnishings and inspirational book library’s encouraging people to take a break.
Watches of Switzerland were challenged with a lack of meeting rooms in their previous offices, so this was a priority here. We included meeting rooms which were accessible between departments, as well as a specific meeting room suite on the ground floor for staff and visitors to enjoy. The design creates a calm, space which motivates and creates pride amongst the team.
Whilst creating this space for WoSG we considered the sustainability of the project. We selected materials with high recyclable content, such as all of the flooring carpet tiles, Fenix for the feature joinery pieces, bookcases. The tea points throughout are a carbon neutral product. Caesar stone was used for worktops which is Greenguard certified and recycled vinyl flooring.
This new state of the art HQ for Watches of Switzerland, Carlton Park provides a flexible layout easily adaptable for future growth. We considered power and data and specific spacing between furniture to allow for growth within each department throughout the building.
